Sara and I are always so honored when we are asked to photograph the important occasions in your lives!

A lot of what we do is capturing moments.  Moments in time that you want to remember.  Moments that are precious and can't be gotten back.

Photographs are a way of preserving those times in your life that are important to you.  Those times are just as important to us!!  We love what we do and we don't take the responsibility lightly.  Trusting your photographers to capture your wedding or proposal... those are the days we are talking about... the ones that only happen once!

When Derek asked us to photograph his proposal we were so thrilled.  We love this kind of shoot!  The suspense, the thrill, the raw emotion and surprise we get to witness and document.  One of the happiest days of your life you entrust to us to immortalize in photographs.

Sara and I waited on the beach of the Ocean House in Westerly, RI, for Derek and Cathleen to make their way down.  We hid behind a cabana so as not to be seen.  We had been in contact with Derek about where we would be and where he should take her based on location and lighting.  We watched them walk out together, take selfies, smile, talk, hug, kiss and cuddle.  We were ready!  He was soooo ready too!

It was a beautiful day, and when Derek got down on one knee and presented that gorgeous ring, asking Cathleen to marry him, Sara and I were there shooting away, capturing all of Cathleen's surprised and emotion.

We gave them a minute to enjoy the moment, let it all set in.  Cathleen was overjoyed... she kept hugging and kissing him over and over again!  When the moment was right we walked over to them to congratulate them, check out the ring and tell her that Derek also hired us to take some engagement photos as well.  We had such a blast with them.  They are such a sweet couple and the love and happiness between them radiates.

They loved all our prompts and the laughs and genuine smiles we got out of it made for a lot of adorable images.

The sunset was spectacular and the Ocean House, the light house, and Taylor's house made for a beautiful backdrop to a wonderful day.

Cathleen and Derek met at work, they bonded over crime podcasts which I'm sure we can all relate to.  Cathleen had mentioned to a friend she wanted to find someone who loved podcasts as much as she did and who wanted to do a crime investigation podcast with her.  The next day at a company event Derek and Cathleen got to talking and Derek just happened to mention they should make a podcast together... WHAT ARE THE ODDS!?!?  Was it totally meant to be!!!

While they listen to more podcasts than music they still danced and dipped on the beach with grace and beauty.  We loved capturing these moments and working with this couple.  We hope you enjoy some of their photos as much as we do.
