Sarah and Jake got married at Essex Steam Train. How cool is that?
When they first told us their venue at our initial consultation we were SO EXCITED. Instantly our minds started reeling with photo ideas. We even made our own Pinterest board for Sarah and Jakes Wedding day.

This venue was so unique, as is this beautiful couple. We were so honored to capture the details of their day. Waters Edge made for a wonderful backdrop for bridal prep, and the their first look. Jake was completely speechless when he saw Sarah, and we do not blame him. She was stunning in her Ti Adora gown from Love Bird Bridal in Mystic. Melissa Oddo, the seamstress at DeMelis Atelier added the off the shoulder sleeves to make this look uniquely Sarah’s. Her hair was done impeccably by Bernadette Danielle with A Traveling Salon.

Groom prep was fun too. Jake got each of the guys a funny pair of socks. His were cats. He also got each of the groomsman a tie clip because his tie clip belonged to his grandfather and was so meaningful to him that he wanted his guys to have one as well. The ring bearer Louis wore a conductor’s hat and was so adorable.

Saint Ann’s Episcopal Church in Old Lyme is where they were married. We got to shoot family formals right in the churchyard, and got some shots of all the groomsman right in the church library. We love making the most of our time and we made sure to prioritize gathering all of the immediate family so that everyone, including the bride and groom got to enjoy their cocktail hour.

Cocktail hour was on the platform right next to the tracks. It was so fun and beautiful with the lights on the trees and the music played by Dave DeAngelis. He was exceptional with his guitar and his voice was beautiful. It was a perfect cocktail hour.

The wedding coordinator, Malana Dougherty, at the Essex Steam Train was such a joy to work with. She was so attentive to both the couple and to us. She made sure the day ran smoothly and if she didn’t have an answer to a question we had she made sure to find it and usually the answer was YES... which was awesome. For instance, we wanted to get in the café cart to take a picture of Sarah and Jake through the window. It was locked and we did not think we could make it happen, but we were so hung up on the idea we decided to ask if we could get in there, and we did.

We also really enjoyed working with the DJ Aaron Demarest from Pryme Tyme Entertainment. It is so important to work well with the DJ, and we really got lucky with this guy. We coordinated time lines perfectly and communicated with each other each step of the way.

The flowers for the day were actually made of wood. They were stunning and created by the very talented Jen Angle at Wood and Word Blooms. Allyson Mansfield at Vesta Bakery made the cake and the delicious looking zeppoles. Two more super unique and sentimental details was that the couple cut their cake with a SWORD that belonged to the bride’s father. The groom’s uncle also provided an old vintage toy train to place near the cake and desserts. It made for a killer ring shot.

We are loving editing these images and can’t wait to get them all to Sarah and Jake.
